Matt is native to the California coast. He grew up in southern California and after graduating college moved to San Francisco in 2005 to get his M.F.A. in Photography and somehow ended up on a houseboat on the bay. He shares a studio in Sausalito with his wife, prop stylist and set designer Jesse Silver.

Matt spends most his time working as a commercial photographer, shooting advertising and catalog work, but his personal work has also been seen on gallery walls at Art Basel, Pingyao International Photography Festival China, and Irvine Contemporary Gallery, D.C. He lives in Marin with his wife, dog and daughter Bia. His instagram handle is @matty_sartain and he promises he'll try not to post a ton of baby photos.
